PONTON’S Predictions
Fedor Emelianenko (30-1) vs. Brett Rogers (10-0)
- With the heavy hands Rogers brings this could end in quick fashion if Fedor chooses one step wrong, however, this is FEDOR we’re talking about!
Prediction: Fedor by KO! (1st Rd)Jake Shields (23-4-1) vs. Jason “Mayhem” Miller (22-6)
- This should lead to a thrilling middleweight title fight! Both men have near the same record and hold many weapons the other may not. Shields has foughten tougher opponents and in my eyes, a better all around fighter than “Mayhem.”
Prediction: Shields by submission (2nd Rd, RNC)Gegard Mousasi (26-2-1) vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (7-4)
- In my eyes, this is a no brainer. Mousasi is top 10 in the world easily at 205lbs.
Predicition: Mousasi by TKO! (1st Rd)Fabricio Werdum (12-4-1) vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (13-1)
- Can Werdum keep on the winning track? If he shows up like he did against Mike Kyle he sure will!
Prediction: Werdum by Submission (Rd 1, RNC)
CAP’S Predictions
Fedor Emelianenko (30-1) vs. Brett Rogers (10-0)
- All I can say is that I hope Rogers gets the W simply so everyone can get off Fedor’s nuts. I realize the guy is virtually undefeated and that he is, based on his record, the best in the world. Yea, he’s dangerous in all areas and seems to have great timing, speed, power, & heart, but the guy isn’t really a cyborg. I’ve seen him hurt & I’ve seen him tested, which means that there are still holes in his game, it’s just nobody has been able to capitalize for the finish yet. I respect Fedor, but I decided I didn’t like him when he played games with the UFC and never signed. I’m going to go out on a limb and hope…
Prediction: Rogers by KO! (1st Rd)Jake Shields (23-4-1) vs. Jason “Mayhem” Miller (22-6)
- I’ve been looking forward to this fight for a couple months. I’ve been a fan of Mayhem’s since he fought GSP. The guy is scrappy and he’s entertaining. I’m not sure if he’s as good technically as Shields is on the ground, or on their feet either for that matter, but Mayhem has the skills to beat Shields on the right day. Whether this coming Saturday is that day or not, that is yet to be seen, but you can bet the house on a good fight. I think I want Mayhem to win it but right now my gut is saying Shields takes this fight, just based on the fact that he trains with the Scrap Pack.
Prediction: Shields by Unanimous DecisionGegard Mousasi (26-2-1) vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (7-4)
- I’m with Ponton on this one. Mousasi is on a different level than Sokoudjou. Sokoudjou has KO power and he’s explosive, but I think Mousasi is too much for him.
Prediction: Mousasi by TKO (R1)Fabricio Werdum (12-4-1) vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (13-1)
- This one is tough to call, just like Crazy Chris said. I’m skeptical of Werdum’s abilities. I know he is great on the ground, and his striking is fair, but I’ve never been impressed by him. His win over Gonzaga was nice, it proved that Werdum has heart, but he has never looked that good to me. Bigfoot is somewhat the same to me. He’s big, he’s powerful, and he’s technical, but he looks a little clumbsy to me (is that how you spell clumbsy?). Bigfoot’s record is better but against who? I don’t know, I’m going to wing it here and say…
Prediction: Silva by Unanimous Decision

I have to go with Fedor via submission round 1. I don’t think he will be dumb enough to stand and trade with Rogers and if he does my prediction might be wrong.
Shields via submission (RNC) round 2. He has been on a roll lately and really wants a shot at GSP down the road and I don’t think he is going to let Mayhem ruin that oppotunity for him.
Mousasi via TKO round 1. This guy is the real deal and Soko has been exposed.
Werdum via decision. Silva is a huge dude and very talented but I see the fight going to the ground where Werdum will have the advantage as long as he stays on top. IMO this is the most difficult fight to predict.
